ANALYSIS: The Figures That Convince Me President Jonathan Is The Man For 2015

Analysis by Adeyemi Johnson
Recently, some APC stalwarts principally the party’s chairman claimed that Nigeria has deteriorated under the administration of President Goodluck Jonathan and that APC offers a better solution, but is that true ? Rather than make subjective claims, it is better to examine the facts by global verifiable standards.
The most acceptable global composite standard for judging progress or development is the HDI Index. Many accept that Nigeria has not moved as fast as it should in this index. It measures three basic dimensions of human development, such as long and healthy life, knowledge and a descent standard of living.

Obasanjo should be EXPELLED From PDP Now ! – Edwin Clark

Former Federal Commissioner for Information and South South leader, Chief Edwin Clark yesterday asked the ruling Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, to expel the former President, Chief Olusegun Obasanjo from the party.
Speaking in an interview with newsmen at his Asokoro residence in Abuja, shortly after receiving a delegation of the North Central PDP Network led by its Director General, Murtala Zubairu, Middle Belt Minority Youths and many other PDP campaign groups, the Elder Statesman noted that although it was a good thing for President Jonathan to have signed the accord, ‘’Buhari cannot be trusted to keep the agreement.’’

ANALYSIS: General Buhari’s Scary History And Those Who Are Wilfully Blind

Analysis by SHAKA MOMODU

Thirty years ago, he faced the cruel and ignominious fate of being tied to the stake and a hail of bullets from marksmen ended his precious life. That person was Bartholomew Owoh (26) who alongside others, Bernard Ogedengbe (29) and Lawal Ojuolape (30), were executed by firing squad after being arrested and tried for drug trafficking. The case of Bartholomew Owoh, the youngest of them all, was particularly tragic. At the time of his arrest, the crime did not carry capital forfeiture -the punishment was six months imprisonment. But Decree No. 20 was hurriedly promulgated and back-dated by one whole year to take effect from when he and others committed the crime and on the basis of that they were all tried, found guilty and executed by firing squad. Someone recently asked me if this actually happened and I said, “read the records of history against Buhari’s name”.
The man responsible for that “judicial murder and crime against humanity” is today the APC presidential candidate, General Muhammadu Buhari, who has shown no remorse, no regret and has tendered no apology for his actions. Furthermore, he has sought no remission or restitution for that act of pure evil. He is the same man being daily burnished in the media by revisionists as the new face of “change.”

MUST READ: Chocolate City Boss, Audu Maikori Tackles APC’s Muhammadu Buhari In This Must Read Op-ED

I watched Buharis campaign speech yesterday and I left feeling like I was listening to my father speaking to me- and that’s sort of natural afterAll he and my father are about the same age. Buhari is an awesome figure, very impressive in terms of what he stands for as a person . Indeed i must tell a story – way back in 1998 during the perennial university strikes I was in kaduna during one of the perennial fuel scarcity episodes. I was at the ungwar Rimi filling station and had been on a line for 3 hrs or so waiting for my turn to buy fuel. And if you can recall those days, fuel lines were like military camps and people were violent if you tried to jump the queue unless you were a friend of the petrol station manager or a soldier And Buhari drove into the area in his 505 looking for fuel and somehow people saw him and all of a sudden people started moving their cars out of the way to allow him drive up to fill his tank.

Analysis: Questions For Goodluck and Muhammadu

Analysis by Okey Ndibe

Both the Peoples Democratic Party and the All Progressives Congress appear to have settled on obfuscation as the name of the game in this election season. Both parties, and the constellation of smaller parties, seem bent on discouraging any deep conversation around the state of Nigeria.

Even more sad, I think, is that too many Nigerians—including ostensibly educated ones—seem willing to let the parties have it on their terms. I won’t be surprised if there were one or two of the so-called smaller parties raising profound questions about the brokenness of Nigeria, and offering some considered thoughts about ways out of the quagmire. Yet, any such parties would be condemned to labor in obscurity, ignored by the media. The Nigerian media after all reflect the larger Nigerian society. And the consensus in that perplexing space called Nigeria is that our choice is limited to the PDP and APC.

Opinion: Why I Endorse The ‘Clueless’ President For A 2nd Term

Written by by Uzochukwu Okafor
I have been thinking seriously on why President Jonathan is constantly being derided and abused by a few but vociferous individuals. The most recent being that emanating from President Obasanjo’s latest book. But what now propelled me into contributing to this debate is the article written by Mr. Nnimmo Bassey, who I have very high regard for since our student days at the University of Nigeria, Enugu campus.
In that article captioned “ A Clueless president,” he stated how an African friend he had not seen in years asked him about “his clueless President.” This demonstrates the need for us to remain decorous even in instances of very sharp disagreements. Quite often, Nigerians complain of disrespectful treatments at the airports by immigration and custom officials. There is a saying in Igbo land to the effect that when you describe your cooking pot as useless, people will treat it as rubbish. We Nigerians have often not been mindful of the damage we do to our country and ourselves when we denigrate our institutions and our leaders in a careless and reckless manner. It is even more so when such recklessness comes from a former president who should be more thoughtful and circumspect in his utterances and writings.
